Blumenfeld Studio: Color, New York, 1941-1960
Blumenfeld Erwin
,
2013
Every page is seen by millions of people, so we are responsible for the taste of tomorrow. Our images are the essence itself of the page, and every page needs its proper face, its proper spirit, in order to catch the attention of millions. Else it is nothing else but a piece of paper printed upon. Erwin Blumenfeld Erwin Blumenfeld was one of the most sought-after and best-paid fashion photographers of his time, shooting for Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Cosmopolitan and Life. Influenced by the surrealists and the artistic avant-gardes, he challenged the genre's conventions in his early fashion photographs with fascinating originality and perfection. Although Blumenfeld left to posterity a considerable oeuvre of colour photographs, so far only his magazine spreads were really known. For this volume, the original slides were recovered from Blumenfeld's extensive archive and digitally reconstructed. His compositions can thus be seen for the first time in their original form and colourfulness.

Amidst his publications Chromes (2011), Los Alamos Revisited (2012), and the upcoming Democratic Forest (2014) and Election Eve (2016), all documenting his lifetime work, At Zenith constitutes a calm and experimental intermezzo from Eggleston's familiar loudness and intensity of colours. The photographer pointed his camera at the sky to focus on the clouds rolling by.

Designing Here/Now: A Global Selection of Objects, Concepts and Spaces for the Future
Design touches every aspect of our lives and has become one of the most exciting and fast-moving industries, enlivening businesses, stimulating economies and solving humanitys most pressing problems. Increasingly connected to the developments in technology, design has also become one of the most dynamic areas of exploration, with design schools and professions exploding across the globe. It is difficult to keep pace with the most relevant innovations, to detect the signal from the noise of product releases and marketing campaigns, but one arbiter of the profession has been presenting the design worlds best work since 1995: Core77, a platform that some consider one of the very first online magazines, sponsoring reviews, lectures and exhibitions, and working with many of the leading design agencies and design-led companies, such as Apple, Nike, Philips, DuPont, Braun and many others. For the past several years, it has hosted a unique set of design awards, juried by the worlds design experts, which has attracted a dazzling spectrum of international practices. From consumer products to speculative ventures, from transportation to visual communication, from design writing to food design, the entrants and winners of the Core77 Design Awards capture the spirit and preoccupations of the design industry, and the best work chosen by panels of jury members that include design luminaries from the U.S., Europe, India and China. Designing Here/Now is no ordinary survey of the current state of design: it offers a large-scale overview of how design can change our personal and professional lives in fresh and often unexpected ways.

Pre-Raphaelite Cats
Herbert Susan
,
2014
Susan Herberts feline versions of famous paintings have delighted cat and art-lovers everywhere. In this book, now available in paperback, she turns her eye to the works of the Pre-Raphaelite painters, whose popularity is reaching new heights today. The epitome of their style and period, these wonderful paintings can be viewed in a new and entrancing way when their protagonists are endearing cats. The Beggar Maid, more beautiful than day in Tennysons poem, takes on a particularly touching relationship with King Cophetua, while Medea gives new meaning to the word enchantress as she prepares the ingredients for a spell. And were ever two creatures so frightened and so abandoned as the poor cat princes wickedly imprisoned in the Tower, or two lovers so sad and so stoical as the young officer cat and his fiancee on the eve of the Battle of Waterloo? A special feature of this book is its inclusion of small black-and-white reproductions of all the original paintings that have inspired Susan Herbert. Once again she has risen to the challenge of endowing the worlds best- loved works of art with a certain feline charm.

The Royal Baby Book: A Souvenir Album
What is it like to be a new royal baby, and the heir to a throne? From baby's first shoes, embroidered with tiny crowns, to golden rattles and miniver-trimmed short coats, this new book, the latest in Royal Collection Trust's best-selling series of Souvenir Albums, tells the story of eight royal babies, from Queen Victoria to the new Prince. Using a wealth of previously unpublished items and documents from the Royal Collection and Royal Archives, it details the lives of seven of these royal babies from infancy and babyhood to first steps, and on to first days at school. Here are the dolls and teddy-bears, the prams and cots and tricycles, the lost teeth and locks of hair that all parents know and treasure, together with the little notes in childish scrawl, the family photographs, and the first dainty sets of 'best clothes'. And where else could such a celebration of baby- and childhood end, but with a chapter devoted to our new Prince, to bring this happy history up to the present day. The Royal Baby Book is the official souvenir publication to mark the birth of the new heir to the throne and will delight anyone who has ever had a baby in their life, royal or otherwise.

My Paris
Ehrenburg Ilya
,
2008
The Paris of Ilya Ehrenburg knows no Louvre or Notre Dame and shows the Eiffel Tower crouching behind shabby facades and building timber. The Paris in which the Russian revolutionary lived from 1908 to 1940 was a place in which completely normal people with little money and hope struggled through life. Ehrenburg photographed them at their doors and in cafes, at work and at rest, in their poverty and dignity, and wrote brief texts that describe them. My Paris is an impressive work of photographic social reporting. It presents portraits of the elderly and children, workers and outcasts and stands in stark contrast to the glamorous Paris of so many idealized representations. The book was published in Moscow in 1933. El Lissitzky used very clear typography that puts a gentle rhythm into the book. Moi Parizh — My Paris is an extremely rare object, which is presented anew as a reprint.
